If you are looking for an inexpensive project that you can do on your own, don’t forget about the impact that fresh paint can have on the look and feel of any room. This past weekend I decided to paint the paneling in my mother’s kitchen and hallway. I don’t consider myself a painter but I knew it would make a huge difference in how my mom felt about her home which was built in 1968 and was tired looking. I did not sand the paneling prior to painting but I did tape the baseboard and trim. I used two coats of primer and twp coats of paint (eggshell). We chose Benjamin Moore’s Seattle Mist (1535) which is a warm gray/brown which complemented her birch cabinets and white counter tops. We also considered Metropolitan (AF-690) which is the 2019 Color of the Year. It took me a day and a half and the transformation was huge. Most importantly it made my 82 year old mom feel good about her home again.
